Turning Water Into Whine

The Council for National Policy, a Conservative, Christian group, has revealed that it will “consider” running a third-party candidate to oppose a possible Giuliani candidacy for President. This announcement comes after months of complaining by religious Conservatives over Giuliani’s moderate stances on social issues, particularly abortion. Read More

Bush’s Nixonian Moment

If it can be said that only Nixon could have gone to China, then only George W. Bush could have convened an international climate meeting that produced nothing, made almost no progress and still managed to make the news worldwide. This is not meant as a criticism of the Administration, in fact I think that this meeting was absolutely in the interest of the U.S. and I applaud the President for doing it. Like Nixon’s famed trip to Communist China, this climate meeting offers a floundering Bush the opportunity to refocus his administration on something, anything, other than Iraq. Make no mistake, I am not suggesting that he should drink Europe’s climate kool-aid and join Kyoto and sing koombaya while letting our economy implode. I am suggesting that this meeting has given Bush the opportunity to do the one thing that Clinton failed to do and that made Kyoto such bad medicine for the U.S., namely to use our power and influence to our advantage and take control of international negotiations on climate change so that any agreement that results protects U.S. economic interests and prosperity, something Kyoto absolutely failed to do. Because of his refusal to re-submit the Kyoto treaty to the Senate for consideration and his seven years of vocal skepticism, any international action Bush takes on the climate issue will be seen as a breakthrough and as progress, even if it is to start back at square one, which is precisely where the U.S. needs to be. In that regard, Bush should continue with his climate meetings even after the UN General Assembly session is over, emphasizing the need to succeed Kyoto and placing the U.S. at the forefront of any future negotiations. Jim Webb Weak on Iran

The much taunted military gung-ho of Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) is once again failing Virginia. Webb’s supposed centrist views led him to vote against a resolution to impose new sanctions on Iran. The bill was passed in the House of Representatives 397-16. A similar nonbinding resolution was put forth in the Senate and won approval 76-22. Every other member representing Virginia in Congress voted for the bill! Jo Ann Davis was a non-vote. We wish her well in a speedy recovery from her health problems. Read More

MoveOn.org Condemned by Democratic Senate; Presidential Candidates Skip Vote

Democrats, Republicans, and Independents have been arguing, debating, and discussing the Iraq War since the invasion in 2003. However, MoveOn.org, who has always been on the fringe of almost every issue, took the debate to a new low. Many of you have more than likely read it, but here it is. Read More

Mark Warner’s Broken Promises

M. Warner to Run for Senate

Mark Robert Warner will announce tomorrow that he will seek the Democratic nomination for Virginia’s open U.S. Senate seat. We at the CRFV would like to welcome the defeated 1996 Senate candidate back to the limelight. We will enjoy examining his record as governor.

To begin, HOW DO YOU LOSE $137 MILLION THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO EDUCATION!! More to come folks . . .
Republicans have a lot of work to do. We must begin by informing the public about M. Warner. For the first time in Warner’s political career he will have to run with his record as governor. This time the new face of Virginia’s Democratic Party will have to answer questions about his tax raising past.
Pundits are already ranking this race as one of the tightest in all of the nation. Early numbers show Warner with a lead over Gilmore and Davis. Republicans have a long road ahead.
A healthy discussion and debate over our GOP candidates will simultaneously occur. Republicans must remember to follow Ronald Reagan’s 80/20 rule after we have found a candidate. “My 80 percent ally is not my 20 percent enemy”. Whoever becomes the Republican nominee will be highly preferable to Mark “I bought my governorship” Warner. Don’t forget, M. Warner handed himself $4.7 million so he could become governor, and he will do it again.

Never Forget

O beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.

O beautiful, for pilgrim feet
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine ev’ry flaw;
Confirm thy soul in self control, thy liberty in law!

O beautiful, for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine,
‘Til all success be nobleness, and ev’ry gain divine!
O beautiful, for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years,
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!
