Jim Webb Weak on Iran

The much taunted military gung-ho of Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) is once again failing Virginia. Webb’s supposed centrist views led him to vote against a resolution to impose new sanctions on Iran. The bill was passed in the House of Representatives 397-16. A similar nonbinding resolution was put forth in the Senate and won approval 76-22. Every other member representing Virginia in Congress voted for the bill! Jo Ann Davis was a non-vote. We wish her well in a speedy recovery from her health problems.

So this leads to the question, is Jim Webb a loopy leftie? Here is his explanation for voting against this bipartisan bill. “At best, it’s a deliberate attempt to divert attention from a failed diplomatic policy,” he said. “At worst, it could be read as a backdoor method of gaining congressional validation for action without one hearing or without serious debate.” He proceeded to call the action Vice President Dick Cheney’s “fondest pipe dream.”

Jim Webb you are not on the same page as the rest of Virginia. Voting against a bill simply because the Bush administration supports it is a terrible display of bitter partisanship. Virginia is ashamed.
