Brownback Campaign Leader Endorses McCain
Dr. Jerry Zandstra, a former member of Sam Brownback’s National Steering Committee and current President of the Pro-Life Federation of Michigan, has endorsed John McCain for the Republican nomination. Dr. Zandstra said that McCain was “the only pro-life candidate in the race with the ability to defeat Senator Hillary Clinton.”
Dr. Zandstra said that he will spend the next few months trying to convince other pro-life leaders and former Brownback supporters that McCain is the candidate Conservatives need to support. Coming on the heels of three strong debate performances, including receiving a standing ovation in Florida for his attack on Hillary Clinton’s Woodstock earmark, this endorsement and the strong likelihood of a full endorsement from Brownback should continue to fuel McCain’s campaign resurgence.
Add in McCain’s constant presence on Sunday talk shows and high media profile, things opponents like Romney and Thompson can’t match, and McCain’s campaign future looks more and more promising. His strong showing in national polls, instant name recognition and firmly established national brand should enable him to remain viable heading into the primary season despite the flashy campaigns of some of his rivals.
