After 8 Months, LOST is Found

To start, I’ll admit this isn’t exactly politically involved, but if this blog is supposed to be about College Republicans across the state, I’m sure I am not the only CR in Virginia that will be glued to my tv watching the fourth season premiere of televisions biggest jigsaw puzzle of a drama, LOST.

Last season, the producers and ABC announced that there would be three more 16-episode seasons following the tragic, revolutionary, and shocking third season finale. For those of you who might just be getting into the show and watching on DVD, I won’t say what happens. However, if you’ve seen the third season finale, I’m sure you agree with me that it definitely qualified as all of those things and many, many more. Furthermore, ABC announced that the three remaining seasons would be aired in solid, 16 episode blocks instead of dividing them amongst both the fall and spring television seasons.

November, though, brought disaster with the contentious strike by the Writers Guild of America. Only 8 episodes actually written and completed at the time, unless something happens within the next week or so, reports say that the rest of the spring TV season will be lost not just for our beloved show, but all scripted tv.

Furthermore, this means that we only have 8 new episodes of LOST to which we can look forward this spring. As directors Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have stated, this 8 episode arc will end very similarly to the way the third season’s fall portion was cut-off…at a very suspenseful moment within the storyline. How this mini-season will be resolved within the previously mentioned goal of ending the show in three more, 16 episode seasons remains to be seen.

What will happen to the castaways somewhere in the Pacific at 9 tonight on the American Broadcasting Corporation? I don’t know, but I’ll sure be watching!

you’re not the only one. I am a philosophy major so trying to decipher that aspect of the show has been interesting to me. Found a decent article on why I can’t figure it out: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20038700,00.html . . . author claims they are discussing postmodernism. If so, then I understand it now. Postmodernism isn’t philosophy, it’s rubbish

The stuff about lost at EW.com is normally pretty interesting. Good way to hear about the more reasonable theroies and a great way to find out behind the scenes stuff going on with the show!
