Is McCain Too Old?
This is a question which will no doubt play a pivotal role in the upcoming presidential election, especially as Barack Obama continues to draw large crowds of young people. Although Obama himself is 46, his youthful appearance and impassioned rhetoric make the age contrast sharper. The Wall Street Journal has a good answer to this question here.
I agree with their analysis and think that the age issue is less important than the health issue. If a candidate is healthy and has a history of good health, as McCain does, then age is largely irrelevant. In McCain’s case, as the WSJ points out, his wealth of experience gives him an advantage that cannot be equaled by even the loftiest of dreams.
Also, in what was perhaps a foreshadowing of things to come, McCain said “I believe I can inspire a [new] generation of Americans to serve a cause greater than their self interest.” Read the rest of what he had to say here.

McCain IS too old - but that probably doesn’t matter. It just makes his choice of VP that much more important.
“One word sums up probably the responsibility of any vice president, and that one word is ‘to be prepared’.”
