JMU’s MACRoCk & Fine Art
“The Mid-Atlantic College Radio Conference(MACRoCk) is the annual celebration of college radio and the independent music community perpetuated by student volunteers at WXJM (the Harrisonburg college radio station)”. In other words, it’s a time for punk rock and emo students to come in flocks to JMU to listen to 70+ bands who perform at venues across Harrisonburg.
This year Hburg held one of their Art Walks in coordination with MACRoCk to give tourists another place to spend money. I was dragged, kicking and screaming, to the Art Walk. I found two cool things. First was a great example of Fine Art at the ”Altered Books Gallery”. Jonathan Cranston’s “Mergent Shot” and “Census Shot” are my kind of art!! (see picture)
The other cool thing was my “Free Tibet” bumper sticker I bought from an old hippie. Good ole capitalism.
