Cuccinelli Wins AG Poll
Cuccinelli took 60% of the vote in the CRFV Blog’s “Which Attorney General Candidate do you Support?” poll. Cuccinelli’s fan base should be large. He is the only Republican NOVA state senator to survive the ‘07 purge and he is the most conservative of the bunch!
Rounding out the poll:
- 24.6%: Fmr. Del. Paul Harris
- 8.5%: Sen. Mark Obenshain
- 4.6%: Del. Terry Kilgore
- 2.3%: Fmr. U.S. Atty John Brownlee
- 0%: Sen. Ryan McDougle
Harris pulled away from the field as the strong number two. He currently resides in NOVA and Del. Bell who holds his old House of Delegates seat announced he would not seek the AG’s office. According to recent news it appears likely Harris will jump into the race.
Obenshain may have dropped out of the race, but his strong support of JMU CRs and Bridgewater CRs pulled his poll numbers very high in the initial few days of the poll.
Kilgore received a respectable sum of the votes. His name isn’t being mentioned as often in the blogosphere so I am unsure of what to expect from him. However, considering it looks like three people will be in the race soon, Kilgore may not be interested. Discontent in House leadership right now may also make him want to focus on seeking a higher position in House GOP leadership.
Brownlee has a meager sum of the votes, but considering he is not a high profile character his votes still showed an interest in his candidacy. He recently retired from his U.S. Attorney job, fueling intense speculation that he will soon announce his AG bid.
McDougle brought in ZERO votes. He is a former JMU CR so I had hoped somebody from JMU would have voted for him, but it appears there is no buzz around his name whatsoever.

You need to take a look at HB 172 to get a real good look at Del Terry Kilgore. When your auto insurance premiums go up you can look to HB 172 as a factor.
Number one, it’s an invasion of your privacy issue for someone to be able to find out what your personal liability limits are BEFORE filing a lawsuit.
Secondly, what bearing does your personal liability limits have on the actual damages sustained by someone in an auto accident? None, but you wait until a Trial Lawyer finds out you have some nice big, fat, limits!
