Stimulus: The Sequel
Here we go again. Democrats in Congress are now floating the idea, with President-elect Barack H. Obama’s support, of a second “stimulus” package, this one weighing in at $700 billion. The things is, it isn’t stimulus.

Reid, Pelosi Set Auto Bailout Conditions
Hugo Chavez must be jealous. Sen. Harry Reid and Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave the nation’s automakers their marching orders Friday, telling the Big 3 what they need to do in order to get their chunk of your money.

The Change We See
On November 4, the country voted for change; that much is undeniable. The country doubled down, hit on 20, went all in, threw long, whatever. It chose a political neophyte with an ambiguous message and opaque ambitions. What change will we get? We’re beginning to see.

Obama Strikes Again, Holder for Attorney General
President-elect Barack H. Obama has selected former Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder to be the nation’s top law enforcement official, signaling yet again his intention to be nothing more than a militant partisan leftist.

Automaker Bailouts
Madison warned in Federalist 10 against the undue influence of faction, how it undermines the public interest and clogs up democracy. If any more evidence was needed to demonstrate Madison’s prescience, the current debate over bailing out floundering US automakers is it.

Hillary at State, Seriously?
Well there goes the neighborhood. I hate to say I told you so, but…I told you so. The era of togetherness, unity, and kumbaya-singing appears to have ended. Unless of course you’re a far-left Democrat, in which case you’re expecting four years of continuous Christmas, or I guess Xmas.

Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum.

A New Liberal Order? Maybe.
Barack Obama’s election certainly marks a transition in American politics. They have, at least for the time being, convinced America that they really aren’t that nutty, that they can govern, and that their policies […]

Loyal Opposition? I Think Not
In the aftermath of Barack Obama’s election victory, some conservatives, especially those who defected during the campaign, are calling on all conservatives to join The One’s government as part of a loyal opposition. As Andrew C. McCarthy put it at NRO, we should offer a hand when he reaches out to us and support him when we think […]

Obama’s Cabinet?
The One is beginning to float names for his Followers in Chief. If this list turns out to be accurate, God help us.
Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff: What, was Luca Brazzi busy? The Sopranos on vacation? This guy was Clinton’s partisan hit-man and has played the same role for Pelosi since going to Congress. […]

Onward, Conservatism
Winston Churchill:
“This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

For Whom The Bell Tolls
It tolls for thee. The question now is: Do we stand in opposition and try to deny Obama any achievements or successes, or do we make do with what remains and work with him? I’m favoring the former at the moment. I shudder to think that that means working for a failed presidency in America, but that is what it means. Read More
